LYTTLETON

Last weekend my beloved and I took Toto and Bob on a wee drive around the bays of Lyttleton and we stopped at this pretty little bay and took the doggies into the water for a wee splash. The doggie boo's loved it and although it was too cold for my beloved and I to swim, it was fun to splash around in my gumboots!! My wee Toto was super dooper cute and cuddled himself up wrapped in a towel on the way home.

NEW WALLET

I have been looking for the perfect tan wallet for over a year now and I finally found it in the weekend! It is a vintage leather one that set me back a whole $2. Got to love second hand goodies. It has a photo space ( I am one of those people that carries a ridiculous amount of photos around with me, most of Toto and our wedding, just  in case!!) The one tucked into the wallet is of our Wedding day in July 2010. The best thing about the wallet? It matched my 2012 diary and my purse. I looove matching stuff, it makes me happy.

SPARKLY POODLE

So I have a bit of a dog brooch obsession and this is my latest find. He is sparkly, silver and A POODLE. Awesome beyond words. (My wee Toto part is a poodle bichon so I have a soft spot for the breed). This dress is probably the dress I wear the most and one of my favourites. It is one of those dresses that can be worn in summer or winter, is a perfect fit and it a neutral enough colour without being blaaa looking. It is a modern dress that looks vintage (which is great when they are well made) and it has a lining in the skirt which is a really hard thing to find in modern dresses. It was the perfect thing to wear for these wee moccasins my sister gifted me, aren't they gorgeous?

BUNNIES AND POLKA DOTS

I have been searching for a 30's style skirt for some time and finally found this gorgeous one in a Salvation Army store while we were on holiday. I love the soft frill at the bottom and have been wearing it nearly every day since I found it. With vintage clothing (or vintage styling) it can take years to find perfect versions of items longed for, but it is so worthwhile when you do find them and because of the quality of the items they last for years longer xx
Top: Gift from my Mother
Skirt: Thrifted from Balclutha Salvation Army Store
Hat: Madame Butterfly
Shoes: Dance Pacific
Bunny Brooch: Thrifted (isn't it adorable?)

THE FANTASTIC MR FOX

I have wanted this fur stole for quite some time. It is from Two Squirrels Vintage and it is just divine. He was a Christmas present from my beloved and I was quite excited when I opened the package. I have a soft spot for vintage fur and despite the many dirty look I receive from some Christchurch locals, I love wearing them and do not see them as exploiting fur, but as recycling pieces from the past, like many fellow vintage fur wearers. We have named him Lord Barrington, he is far to regal to just be Mr Fox (tehe). I look forward to Winter days when I can cuddle him around my neck and keep warm. I found this gorgeous red velvet dress on our holiday travels and I adore it. It is such a beautiful colour and the velvet feels just divine.
Dress: An opshop in Riverton (found on our holiday)
Fur stole: Gift from my beloved from Two Squirrels Vintage
Shoes: Dance Pacific
Pearls: Diva
Tan bag: Gift from my beloved
Gold hair clip: Gift from Vanessa of Two Squirrels Vintage

HOLIDAY DAY 4 AND 5

After staying in Balclutha for 2 nights (which was beautiful) we went to Invercargill for 2 nights and stayed at a   camp near the beach. Before we arrived, we stopped at a 'Petrified Forest' which was so very cool. It was a forest that was in its glory days in the Jurassic period (200 million years ago) and was destroyed by the sea over time. Part of it though was preserved by a rare scientific mix of processes and what is left is now fossilized just as Dinosaur and animal bones were. It was amazing to see and incredible to think how long it has been preserved for. We also spent a lot of time at the beach and watching the sun go down was so pretty. The doggies loved the water and spent as much time as they could in the surf. I found lots of goodies in op shops along the way of the holiday and this gorgeous beret was my favourite find of the lot. I found it in a CBD op shop in Dunedin, one of the stop offs along the way. I also found this dressing gown, which I have been wearing as a light coat and it came complete with a monogram!! The label inside has 'Kate Smith' written on it just as the monogram says 'KS'. How adorable is that!!

HOLIDAY DAY 2-3....WALKS AND PILGRIM HOUSES

Day two and three involved walks in gorgeous parts of The Catlins and a stop at a pretty wee house built in the late 1880's that was owned by a farmer and his wife. It was amazing what they did with the space of the seemingly tiny cottage and how much was in there:it put our large living spaces of today to shame!
